The Bridge Builder Awards
A picture storyScroll
Doors at three.
The room filled, and kept filling.
A book that had lived in one man's head for years.
They unveiled it, and the room applauded.
That afternoon it met its readers.
Then someone read it aloud.
Half four. The awards began.
One name.
Then another.
The rest, waiting on a table by the flowers.
Eighteen people who never asked to be thanked.
And then, music.
One photograph, for keeping.
Nobody was in a hurry to leave.
“A bridge is built not for the one who builds it, but for all who will one day cross.”
